Our first post!

Ne Hao!

This is it!. The beginning of our adventure to China. You know you're getting close to your holiday when you start thinking about setting up a blog for it.

We head off Saturday morning 25th August and get into Hong Kong at around 11pm. Stay tuned for stacks of photos and hilarious anecdotes.

We've already packed (with 3 days still to go) and I'm very proud that Miriam has managed to get our main luggage down to less than 1 backpack and only weighing 9kg!

We're both looking forward to the trip as we have been working really hard to catch up in work and studies so that we can relax whilst away. Make sure you post comments to our blogs to encourage us to write often - knowing us we'll just get lazy otherwise!

Next blog will be from an internet cafe in Hong Kong

What! Only 9kgs! Woah dude! (or is that woah dudette for Miriam?)

Good work. I'm proud of ya alls.

Looking forward to reading some stuff as I sit here at hum-drum workplace doing my daily tasks...

btw you can prob open up your "leave a comment" to anonymous users too, just check the "show word verification" option under "settings/comments" - in 1+ year of blogging I've had dozens of legit comments and only 1 spam, and my heysen trail blog comes up in first couple of pages of google search results and extracts of that said blog have made it onto porn sites (yippee! hang on a minute...) so the word verification clearly works very well.

Hi Miriam & Brad,
I couldn't possibly go with that little luggage. Dad said she didn't learn it off her mother.
Have a great time. We'll be praying for you all.
Bye now,
Love Mum and Dad Walker

Nice work on the luggage front. Super proud! I remember shaking my head in disbelief when I repacked someones luggage (they were going away for 2 weeks) and I could fit in the bag that was now empty ... Sure couldn't do that with you two ... You've been ruthless.

I salute you! (Though I wouldn't do that in China ...)

Have a safe trip together. Enjoy!

Love Kate

I'm proud of how little I travel with. I did the same trip starting under 10kg, including my day bag and clothes I was wearing (I had no check in).

But then there's only one of me!

Good work guys. Lots of room for wooden budas, trinkets, cheap clothes and silly hats.
